Marzemino. Nice local grape from the neighborhood of Lake Garda where Bardolino can provide great joy. Has been joined by the gropello in this edition, also such a local personal secret. Thanks its name to an indication from the local dialect, grop or gropo, meaning knot, a reference to the compact form of the bunches. Gives a stubborn rosso. With thick bitter cherries, a lot of acidity and a green tang.
Pratello, a family business on Lake Garda, can also enjoy very Italian grapes. Here in Valtanesi they compose lyric red fruit from gropello, a grape from the region with an extended family and local marzemino, whose wine is mentioned during a papal dinner in 1409, but which is especially famous for being sung in Don Giovanni. Something like that stays with you, so although he seems superficially as carefree and sunny as the first one with a boat in Lake Garda, he has an eye for the seriousness of life. Both cool to drink with the feet in the rippling water and at a candlelit dinner.
