Description
Dolcetto d'Alba Calupo is an intense ruby red wine with typical purple reflections in the glass. On the nose, the wine is fragrant with hints of violets and ripe red fruit. In the taste it has much more fruit enveloping in softness with a dry, fresh and clean aftertaste. Very versatile in addition to dishes, from meat starters to roast red meat, excellent with agnolotti al plin a classic dish from Piemonte.
This Dolcetto comes from the Schiena del Crottino vineyard in the municipality of Rodello. It is hilly terrain that lies at an altitude of 460 meters above sea level, facing south, south-west. The terroir consists of marl-limy soil, positioned on a rock layer that allows an ideal ripening of the grapes.
The 4.85 hectare "organic vineyard" consists exclusively of Dolcetto grapes of Italian origin. The age of the vines is 33 years. Vinification starts with a maceration of 9 days followed by fermentation at a constant and controlled temperature. After resting in stainless steel tanks, the wine is aged for 2 months in wooden barrels of 30 hectoliters. After that, the bottle rests in the bottle for another 6 months.
