Frühburgunder is a beautiful grape variety, writes winemaker Andreas Roll. It originated from a natural mutation of the Pinot Noir that took place centuries ago. With moderate yields and a suitable location, this grape variety can be used to make very high quality wines.
The vineyards of this wine are located in the sheltered side valleys of the Kloppberg. There you will find limy marl soils, which have a very positive effect on the character of the Frühburgunder.
After a traditional must fermentation, the wine is aged for at least 12 months in wooden barrels, after which it is ready to be bottled. This wine is best revealed in its 7th to 10th year after harvest. Andreas Roll: "What we want to reveal: This wine is already a pleasure ... so it is best to go back to the motto: a few bottles for now and a few for later".
