Description
This chardonnay has everything a chardonnay should have, depth yet fresh, well crafted with a hint of wood. It has aromas of ripe yellow apple, apricot and a hint of toast. It goes well with smoked salmon or mackerel, charcuterie, pike-perch baked in butter and, for example, a shrimp cocktail.
These chardonnay grapes come largely from high altitude (400 meters) vineyards located at the foot of the Cévennes and from the region of Limoux. The different soil types in this region provide typical accents. The clay and limestone in the Cévennes area give the wine a much-loved freshness. The rich stony clay on the plains of Béziers provides rich and round wines. And the clay and limestone soil of the Carcassonne gives the wine fruity notes. The relatively cool climate provides elegant fresh wines. About 25% of the wine is aged in oak wood.
Wine specially made for the catering industry. A more than excellent quality wine. Menilmontant was a suburb of Paris. It was just outside the tax limit of this city, so the drink was cheaper there. Many pubs (also called guinguettes) were created before the suburbs were annexed by the greater Paris. The name fits this wine perfectly: a lot of wine for little money, available as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot.
