Description
Niccolò V Riserva has a ruby red color with purple nuances. The aroma of the wine is incredibly complex with hints of black pepper and cinnamon, musk, leather turned tobacco, chocolate and red fruit jam. Energetic and powerful on the palate, it is warm, all-encompassing and has a great texture. A wine with great personality that pairs well with hearty dishes such as grilled beef, game, stews, Eastern bacon or Peking duck and spicy cheeses.
This wine is made from Sangiovese, Merlot and Pollera Nera grapes, from the Ortonovo vineyards, oriented to the south east, 100 to 150m above sea level. The terroir consists of a stony, rich structure. The vines are on average 40 years old. The grapes are harvested by hand in mid to late September. It then undergoes a maceration of 15 days, after stretching, maturing for 14 to 18 months in barriques and then another 6 months in the bottle.
The name Lvnae is inspired by the city of Luni, an ancient Etruscan and Greek port, dedicated by the Greeks (Luna, for the Romans) to the goddess Selene. The first Luna settlement was founded by the Romans in 177 BC. Lvnae Bosoni's wine production is rooted in the ancient history of this country and its peoples, the Etruscans, Greeks and Romans, from whom it inherited a great wine tradition.
The area of Colli di Luni is the easternmost corner of the region (see photos), located between the Gulf of La Spezia and the Apuan Alps, only 11 km from the sea as the crow flies. This privileged position provides a unique microclimate where the alternating action of the sea and the mountain breeze, depending on whether it is day or night, creates the perfect conditions for the cultivation of vines and the production of excellent wines.
