Description
In the Médoc it is often said that "the great terroirs oversee the water". It saved them in 2017, thanks to the Gironde's shielding powers. With a significant lack of rain and a mild February and March, the vines were expected to wake up early from hibernation.

Beginning at the end of March and into the first half of April, buds began to open under optimal growing conditions. Then, on the nights of April 27 and 28, a wave of frost hit the Bordeaux region. Fortunately, the river has protected most of the Château Palmer vineyards. At the end of May, the fine weather finally brought the ideal weather for flowering and the promise of an excellent harvest. Spring remained dry until June.

When summer started, it brought several rainy periods that prolonged the vegetative growth of the vines. The veraison took place in mid-August according to schedule. The September rains accelerated the ripening of the grapes, and the harvest began early on September 20. On the 29th, the harvest was over.

From the moment vinification began, it became clear that the conditions of the harvest, coupled with the respectful vineyard management methods used to protect the terroir, would allow Chateau Palmer to enjoy great purity of expression of the vineyards. Château Palmer's 2017 vintage is precise, without excess. The wines show the elegant balance of the most classic vintages. Their velvety tannins and aromatic depth are promises of wonderful aging potential.
