Description
This harmoniously distinctive blend of classic grape varieties is intended to reflect the maritime influence of the terroir where the vines grow. The wine has fresh and fragrant aromas of red fruit and shrubby fynbos notes. On the palate, the wine expresses the vintage by showing a smooth and fine structure. It has a nice fruit concentration for a long, winey and savory finish.
The grapes are picked at sunrise. Over a period of 5 days, the grapes were cold soaked and a light carbonation maceration applied to enhance the fruit expression of the final wine. Half of the wine was aged in French oak barrels for 18 months before blending and bottling. The use of sulphite was always kept to an absolute minimum, so that the wine could follow its own course and express its origins most clearly.
