Lively, powerful, salty and a very long finish. No wonder that Sancerre 'Les Romains' is the pride of the Vacheron domain. It has a light golden color. Notes of citrus, yellow fruit and a hint of caramel. Ripe, juicy and extremely tasty. The richness in the mouth is perfectly supported by a salt and spicy mineral frame, this stretches the wine and gives it a long lively aftertaste. This Sancerre benefits from airing before serving. Do this especially with a tasty fish from the oven filled with herbs and lemon. This wine will also do well with langoustines and lobster.
This pure and complex Sancerre teaches us a lesson in balance and mastery that shows its flint bottom with great depth. As always with the Vacheron Sancerre, this 'Les Romains' is clearly made for preservation. On this vineyard we find the oldest Sauvignon vines of the domain, since the majority were planted in 1970. This is also the place with the most perfect flint and clay soil that Vacherons rightly predicts will give the wine its assertive style. This is also the place where the Sauvignon Blanc grapes will reach perfect ripeness on this particularly sunny south-facing plot. All conditions are therefore met in this first white Sancerre vineyard of the estate. Since then, the style of 'Les Romains' has remained the same through very precise work of vinification and aging of the wine. This way you get the right impression of the terroir and the vintage in this Sancerre 'Les Romains'
