The cellars of Louis de Grenelle are located in the center of Saumur, in the heart of the Loire. Louis de Grenelle (since 1859) is the last large fully independent family business specializing in the making of sparkling wines. The company combines old traditional production methods with modern production methods. The Flao couple, who are responsible for marketing and he for the financial affairs, is in charge of the day-to-day management. Louis de Grenelle has its own special vineyards that guarantee grapes of exceptional quality.
In 1976, visionary winemaker Hubert Bodet and two business partners took over a dilapidated cellar, contrary to everyone's advice. However, time would eventually prove that those who “dare, work and never give up” (X.Dolan) are right. In 2009, Hubert Bodet handed over the reins to his daughter, Françoise Flao, who has been involved in the management of the company since 1983, assisted by his son-in-law, Jean Pierre Flao as Chief Financial Officer.
Françoise Flao has inherited the long-term vision and plans for the future by focusing on harnessing the winemakers' craft expertise while adding a touch of modernity and innovation. She continues to prefer a qualitative approach. As a result, she enhances the distinctive Louis de Grenelle style over the years without ever endangering the spirit of the house.
