The flavors of this Sauvignon Blanc are youthful, charming and show green melon, lemon and lime zest, apple with a beautiful aftertaste of minerals and nettle tones. The taste is juicy and finely structured, with a delicious fruit intensity and vibrancy, supported by a sharp acidity. A very versatile and popular wine that complements a wide variety of eating styles, it is delicious as an aperitif and ideal with seafood, sushi, ceviche and goat cheeses.
Sauvignon Blanc is ideally suited to the Nelson region, where a combination of warm, sunny days and cool autumn evenings help create the intense variety flavors for which this flagship New Zealand wine is recognized. The roots of the vines reach deep into the soil, which is rich in natural fertility and beneficial organisms without leaving residues through the use of synthetic chemicals and fertilizers. The grapes are picked from March 31, when they have reached their optimal ripeness, pressed and de-stalked before fermenting cool to preserve the lively, fresh Sauvignon characters. Richmond Plains' philosophy is to make a wine with minimal intervention that allows the wines to see through unique, individual characters.
