Description
The Albariño Cuvée Especial maintains the style of the area and the winemaker, but the slight differences in the elaboration give it a more intense aromatic sensation and make it slightly wider and fuller on the palate. It is straw yellow in color with golden sparkles. It has complex scents of apricot, pear and pineapple in combination with white flowers. It reminds us of a hint of toast, of its aging on its lees. It is full, creamy and has a powerfull taste. It is a good accompaniment to dishes with lobster or langoustines, paella, stuffed squid with ratatouille, scallops with butter sauce and firm white fish such as monkfish or turbot.
These Albariño vineyards are located in the valleys of the Miño. Adegas Valtea is located in an area with a special microclimate that allows the grapes to reach the maturity necessary for the production of excellent wines. For this Cuvée Especial, 14ha of vineyards have been planted on a gently sloping hill facing south. A situation that makes it possible to obtain wines with aromas of ripe fruit and good acidity. On the banks of the river Miño facing north-south, the vineyards of Adegas Valtea develop on an irregular terrain with a slight slope formed by steps or balconies hanging over the Miño basin. In the Valtea Selección Especial, the skins are soaked with the must for the alcoholic fermentation. This wine is made with specially selected yeasts.
Adegas Valtea is close to the Atlantic Ocean, about 30km from both Vigo and Ourense, the two major cities in this part of Galicia where the demoniación Rías Baixas is located. This is the Atlantic, cool, humid and above all green part of Spain that produces perhaps the best white wines in the country. Responsible for the vinification is oenologist Carla González Chao.
