Description
Lopez de Haro Limited Edition is a wine created after an extensive search for old vines in San Vicente de la Sonsierra (la Rioja), where Raul Acha and his team selected Tempranillo grapes from 39 vineyards, blended with a small serving of Mazuelo grapes, to produce 312 barrels of wine. The result is 89,930 bottles and 1,700 magnums of a full-bodied, yet fresh wine.
In the glass, the wine has an attractive garnet color. It has contributed to the fragrance spicy and smoked notes through the blend of oak from different origins and very well-ripe fruit in which Tempranillo and Mazuelo come together to add complexity. The wine is full, fleshy and fresh, followed by a pleasant, persistent, balanced finish. A wonderful example of the great terroirs of the San Vicente area.
Limited Edition is made from 90% Tempranillo and 10% Mazuelo. The grapes come from 8ha of vineyards selected from different plots in San Vincente de la Sonsierra and grow at an altitude of 530m. Harvesting is done manually in October. Maceration takes place for 2 weeks, after which the wine is aged for 14 months in 40% new and 1 year old barrels of French oak and 60% in Hungarian oak. A total of 312 barrels of 225 liters were produced (of which 89,930 bottles and 1,700 magnum were bottled).
Located in the historic village of San Vincente de la Sonsierra, Bodega López de Haro rises above a sea of vineyards, flanked by the rivers Ebro and Sierra de Toloño. The bodega is completely excavated on the side of a mountain. The selection of wines is named after Don Diego López de Haro, founder of the city of Bilbao. Hacienda López de Haro is a series of wines that combines the simplicity and elegance of great classics with today's consumer taste. The terroir in this region is made of calcareous clay. This produces a wine with refined freshness and a pleasant length and aftertaste.
