Description
The Lagrein grape originates from South Tyrol and is mainly grown there. The history of Lagrein cultivation in South Tyrol dates back to the fourteenth century. Today it is one of the best red wines in South Tyrol. This Lagrein has a deep dark red color. On the nose it has a fruity aroma reminiscent of cherry violets and blackberries. On the palate it is velvety soft, powerful and spicy. Goes well with savory dishes such as leg of lamb, roast game and aged cheeses. Passt gut zu herzhaften Gerichten wie Lammkeule, Braten und gereiftem Käse.

At an altitude of 250 to 280m in Gries near Bolzano and Lake Caldaro, the grapes grow, facing south and southeast. The terroir consists of moraine rubble and alluvial sandy soils. Convenient harvesting of the Lagrein takes place from early to mid-October. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation and maturation in large wood.
