In de Volkskrant by Onno Kleyn

"The ultimate summer wine: Sauvignon Blanc. And because you really do not like slobber: here the best wine of the liquor. Characteristic is its stimulating green scent with traditionally a hint of cat pee, which is then called euphemistic 'boxwood'.

We asked wine shops to send their best Sauvignon Blancs, between 8 and 20 euros. That yielded a delicious range. The geographical spread was huge. All wine was good, all were delicious even, but there had to be chosen. The styles varied widely.

Reuilly 'Les Fossiles' 2017, Denis Jamain, biodynamic An hour west of Sancerre and Pouilly are areas that make comparable wine. Because of their relative unfamiliarity, prices are lower there: Menetou-Salon, Quincy and Reuilly. That does not alter the fact that this is the most expensive in our selection, but it is also great. Classic of course, fruity and fiery, tight, with a lot of depth, wine to sit in. "

The Grote Hamersma 2019

Reuilly. Eighty years ago, shunned like the plague. The grape aphid had kept its house there and winegrowers preferred to go around the block instead of planting new vines. But it was Denis Jamain's grandfather who saw bread in 1935 in this small appellation west of Bourges. Carefully started on two hectares, grape louse disappeared, and success came. Has been like this for three generations. Son Jamain: nice and busy. Grandson Denis goes the extra mile. The domain is currently seen as one of the best in the region. Last year I was the first aptitude test to taste his 2015 harvest "Les Fossiles." Received a gold medal during the Challenge Millésime Bio. Because of a fossil-dry finish, white fruit crunches through different layers, chalk tightness and acid-salt. And despite that fossil interpretation, it is still alive and kicking. I have not had the 2016 in the glass. Perhaps because there was very little of it and the Netherlands misunderstood when the allocations were issued. Anyway, full speed ahead. Full glass 2017 now. Good weather. Sleek, strict and stringent. Grapefruit, greenery, radiant mineral and superior in its acids.
