- Mongibello delle Mandorlaie vineyards between Scansano and Magliano in Toscana. The vineyards are between 250-300 meters high, with sandy soils with granit and some schist veins.
- After a natural fermentation, the wine aged for 12 month in Barrique and Tonneaux barrels made out of French oak, 3 month in concrete vats and a few month in the bottle.ÂÂ
The name is gleaned from the Latin phrase Per Aspera Ad Astra  “a rough road leads to the starsâ€Â. A phrase that is also true for great wines, as greatness requires a great deal of loving work and care in the vineyards.ÂÂ
Ad Astra is an approachable yet simultaneously complex red wine that is also a true pleasure when enjoyed young. The respected Italian wine guide Gambero Rosso awarded in 2012 Ad Astra with the highest rating possible, the Tre Bicchieri (“Three Glassesâ€Â).
